ADULT BIBLE STUDIES

Grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus

Learn More

Jesus says (Luke 11:28), “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” As a church, we seek to hear and study the Word of God. We do so, not just to gain information, but inspiration for life. We seek to know the Word of God that we may follow and obey it, that we may better love God and better love and serve others. Resurrection Lutheran Church is a center for studying God’s word, and offers many opportunities for adults to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Here are general times of study, with more details below:

  • Sunday, 9:15-10:15 am, multiple classes offered

  • Women's Bible Studies: Monday from 6-7 pm

  • Men's Bible Studies: the 1st , 2nd , 5th Fridays from 8-9 am

Various studies offered at various times (see listing below or weekly email for details.

“The Word Became Flesh”

Sunday Mornings  9:15-10:15 am

Began Sunday, Sept. 10th

The Gospel Of John

John’s Gospel is uniquely different.  John was not so much concerned about relating the facts of our Lord’s ministry – that had already been done in the first 3 Gospels. John was concerned, rather, about giving those facts meaning, helping his readers see their spiritual significance. In this study, the Apostle John unfolds for us the life-changing truth about: Jesus, the Word of God; Jesus, the Lamb of God; Jesus’ call to be Born Again; Jesus’ life, death & resurrection; Jesus, the Good Shepherd & his call to “Feed My Sheep”; Jesus’ 7 life-giving “I Am” Words; & so much more! All are welcome! And if anyone is interested in church membership, this study will fulfill a major requirement for that.

Led by Deacon Shirley Algozzine in Rm. 204 of the Christian Education Building.

All are welcome!

Discovering the Word of God
Sunday Mornings  9:15-10:15 am

Began Sunday, Sept. 10th

This 6-session class will focus on the Bible, the Word of God – learning to hear it speaking to us & understanding how we incorporate its message into our daily lives.

An important part of our time together will include questions brought by group members. Topics will include:
- How the Bible came to be, from original manuscripts to the texts we have today.
- What is a Bible translation & how are we deal with all the various translations available?
- What are some of the major themes of the Bible?
- What kinds of tools are available to help us understand these themes & how they impact our lives today?
- How the Bible is structured (book, chapter, verse, etc.)

The class will be interactive, listening together to the Word of God as it shapes our spiritual life. Led by Pastor Dan Whitley in the Christian Ed. Bldg., Rm. 202
